Introduction to Bannerghatta Biological Park

Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) in Bengaluru is a top destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. This park offers a unique safari experience where visitors can observe wild animals in their natural habitat. Recently, Bannerghatta introduced the exciting ‘Leopard Safari,’ the first of its kind in South India and the largest in the country.

Leopard Safari: A Unique Experience

South India’s First and India’s Largest Leopard Safari

The Leopard Safari at Bannerghatta is set in a 20-hectare forest area and cost Rs 4.5 crore to develop. It houses 20 leopards, offering a high chance of sightings. Bannerghatta Wildlife Sanctuary has ensured safety with comprehensive fencing and convenient facilities for a hassle-free safari experience.

Leopards that previously roamed the outskirts of Bengaluru, often causing issues in nearby villages, have been rescued and relocated to this sanctuary. This relocation has helped balance the leopard population and provides visitors a rare opportunity to observe these magnificent animals up close in their natural environment.

Additional Attractions at Bannerghatta National Park

Apart from the Leopard Safari, Bannerghatta National Park also features a zoo where visitors can see a variety of animals and birds. The park’s Butterfly Park, spread over 7.5 acres, showcases different types of butterflies. For those wishing to extend their visit, the park offers tented cottages and huts for an overnight stay. Additionally, a skywalk is being developed to offer a special view of Bannerghatta’s biodiversity.
